Alice in Wonderland

Not so much a remake, but a re-imagining of the classic tale. Now I usually HATE fantasy movies, anything to do with elves, dwarfs, princesses, dragons etc. I picked this movie however due to 1) lack of selection and 2) because I know the story from my youth. Let's just say I was happy to make it through the whole movie and found it rather enjoyable...not sure if that was due to low expectations, or the quality of the film itself. Recommended.

Children of Men

I found the dialogue a little difficult to follow (accents, not necessarily the movies fault) and the movie was wide open to interpretation, some love that, some hate that, I think I'm in the middle. Worth watching once.

Couples Retreat

Predictable and uninspired. Had a few smiles, but not a single lol. Vince Vaughn and John Favveau have fallen a long way from "Swingers" ...

My Life

Overly sentimental and dragged on way too long. I know what they were trying to do with this movie, and they succeeded, I just don't think it's grounded in reality.

The Running Man

23 years later, Running Man ingested. Am I the only one who thinks Richard Dawsonn (Family Feud host) deserved an Oscar for this? He's great!!! Entertaining movie and very prophetic in a lot of ways re: reality tv, censorship etc. A fun movie that comes recommended.

Rudy

This movie's been on my shelf for years, decided to pop it in tonight to continue my "Summer of Catchup" ... The story is very inspiring although I'm left wondering how "loosely" based on a true story it really is. Rudy as a character was rather annoying, had he been more likable this movie would have received a full star rating higher for me. Greatest sports movie ever? Not by a long shot. Worth watching? Meh.

Commando

25 years later, I've now seen Commando. Still catching up, and it couldn't be more appropriate that I watch this on a Saturday afternoon. I'd never seen this movie, yet experienced sever deja vu because I've seen this type of movie on this type of day so many times. Typical, predictable, silly action flick just made for this type of lazy day. It's hard not to like this movie, so many quotes, some great sequences, but the plot is extremely thin. Entertaining though? Yah.
