The Walking Dead: Season 5

Talk about a slow burn, the first half of season 5 had me ready to give up, but I flew through the final 6 episodes in a couple days.  I really felt like they did a great job in making the series interesting again.  Too many years "on the run" had me feeling a little burned out.  Rick shaves everybody!  Recommend.

Master of None

It felt good to be hooked on a show again.  I burned through all 10 episodes in about a week and was left wanting more.  A great comedy for a generation slightly younger than me, but I'm not too old to appreciate and understand it.  Very smart, very funy, and quite touching.  Definitely gave me "all the feels".  Recommend.

Episodes: Season 2 +3

I went straight into season 3 of this show without a recap from season 2.  I'm not sure why I continue to watch, it's far from fantastic, and there are plenty of other options on Netflix.  Not much more to add from my season 1 review, more of the same.  Continue to pass.

Kingsman: The Secret Service

Over the top, action packed spy movie and origin story.  Great cast of characters, easy to follow plot, and doesn't take itself too seriously.  If only the violence was toned down a little and the language cleaned up a bit, this movie could have been HUGE if it had a PG-13 rating.

The Beaver

The Beaver’s been on my radar for a  while.  Okay, that sounds weird, but it’s true.  This is not a comedy akin to “Ted” but a film about depression and mental health.  I’d like to say it’s heartwarming, but it’s actually quite depressing.  The acting is good on all parts, the story leaves a little more to be desired.  I wouldn’t call it a “shock ending” but  I definitely didn’t see THAT coming.  At just 90 minutes I’d recommend it if you have an hour and a half to kill.

Boyhood

So they took 12 years to film a boy growing up, but the boy turns out to be unlikeable, and there's only one good cast member ... uh oh!  Well, I'm in the minority, cause people generally love this movie, I thought it stunk.  Great concept, bad execution.  Pass.

Episodes: Season 1

Like friends, only raunchier, and not at all like Friends ... other than some references.  It’s funny, but not “haha” funny.  Pass.
