Four Brothers

Four brothers is a good idea poorly executed. The idea of four messed up kids being raised in a foster home with a bond as strong, if not stronger than, a "natural" family has a nice tone to it. Throw in the murder of the beloved foster mother and the revenge plot and it sounds like winner to me. Unfortunately we're just supposed to assume the bond is strong, a nice "coming of age" sequence in the first 15-30 minutes would have helped, but there are no flashbacks, just a few story's told over the dinner table. From there the plot gets overly complicated intertwined with organized crime, crooked cops, coverups, insurance money blah blah blah. Sometimes movies lose their identity in trying to do too much. This is a 2 week miniseries crammed into 2 hours. Available on Netflix instant streaming, but I do not recommend.
